Parent involvement begins when the parent calls for information. This is an opportunity
to give information to the applicant regarding procedures and policies. It is also an
opportunity to find out what the parents expectations are. Following the initial contact,
there will be an opportunity to reinforce this understanding at the time of registration.
Before the school semester begins, there will be an opportunity for the child and the
parent to meet the teacher and visit the classroom.
Each parent will be made to feel welcome in the classroom. Parents are encouraged to
visit as an observer, as a resource person, or as a helper if they so desire.
A monthly newsletter share's information about the classroom activities and goals.
There will be suggestions to the parents for things to do with their children. Parents
will be invited to contribute suggestions and information about community resources.
At least once a year the center will plan conferences with the Parent. This is regarding
the child's adjustment to the program, and his/her growth and development. This will
take place during the class time. A conference can be set up anytime at the parents
request, or if the teachers see a need. Informal communication will be a daily routine
as the children enter and leave the center.
